Weekend Recap Tuesday

20 Nov

Happy Tuesday everyone!

I love this color from Essie!!! Thanks Mom! πŸ™‚

So this past weekend David was gone to watch our local hockey team on the road. Him, his dad, and 2 buddies left early Friday morning to drive hours and hours for a game Friday night (which we won!) and then a few more hours to watch them Saturday night (we lost…) and then lots of hours in the car arriving home early Sunday morning.

Since I was a bachelorette Friday and Saturday, my parents asked if I wanted to go with them to dinner with them, my aunt and uncle, and some of their friends. After dinner, we went to a bar to have a few drinks and dance a little (just like me, my mom and aunt love to dance!) It was nice to get out!

Saturday morning, I picked up my mom and we went out to my sister’s to go for a walk with her and my nephews. It’s been decent weather wise around here, 50’s or so most days and Saturday the sun was shining bright so it was a perfect opportunity for a walk! The boys love going for rides and Brody bounced his leg the whole time.

I had a lunch date with my friend Sarah (I wish I had a picture of us eating lunch) at Olive Garden. We could talk for hours! I think we miss living together…a lot! But she will always be my roomie at heart.

Our senior year in college in our apartment before winter formal

I also had a Skype date with my friend Priscilla that afternoon and got a little tour of a few rooms of her house! We talked about all kinds of stuff until her laptop battery was blinking red at her and my friends were arriving. Our chat felt like 5 minutes when in reality it ended up being 90!

Stacy and Amber came over for a girls night! We sat on my living room floor drinking wine, talking, laughing, and getting annoyed (ok that was just me, maybe?) at Gizmo begging for attention nonstop. Amber made 30+ dozen cookies (yes! 30 DOZEN!!) with her mom and Grandma earlier that day so she brought some goodies to share with us so we also ate quite a bit of sweets and of course I got out a few of my Lindt chocolates that I’m hiding on top of the refrigerator. No girls night is complete without heart to heart talks, wine, and sweets!

After David got home, we completed our weekend with some extra relaxation, a few errands, and dinner at my parents with the whole family. It was a perfect weekend and what makes it even better is that Sunday the feeling knowing we only had a 3 day week was the best!

Unfortunately, this post was meant for Monday but I had some disappointing news that I had to deal with and move on from. I am seeking out a new Dr. since my Gyn/Fertility Specialist no longer is with the practice I was going to. So I called to set up an appointment and since it’s considered ‘infertility’ they had to run it through their Insurance Department so that I was aware what would and would not be covered. Shortly after, I got a call from a sweet lady who I could tell felt pretty bad for giving me this news but that my insurance would cover ZERO of my appointments and anything that followed. My heart broke. {start rant} I pay so much yearly, and fortunately I am very healthy otherwise and don’t have to go to the Dr. multiple times a year or hospital even for that matter, yet the one thing I need help with, it’s considered an elective. Are children essential to live a fulfilled life? Ask anyone who has children…

After this got me all fired up after realizing SO many deal with infertility and at the same time almost NO ONE gets insurance coverage for help, I went on to Resolve to see if anything is being done and what I can do to help this cause. I signed up to get more information and hopefully someday I can help make a change to this whether it’s who I vote for or petitions I can sign. See more information in a future post!

On a positive note, for now they can code it ‘irregular cycles’ which is exactly what it is and to be honest, if I was able to have regular cycles, I’d be on Cloud 9 right now and want so badly to get our baby naturally but at the end of our year of trying to try, we are exploring other opinions and options as well as looking at if my body really is making any progress.

I hope that everyone is having a great week so far this week, maybe baking some pumpkin pies, buying your turkeys, and flipping through those Black Friday ads!
