Eye Candy

13 Dec

Every year my Mom, sister, and I have a cookie day! Over the last few years, my nephews have come along to join in the fun as well. Jackson will help bake and decorate, some girl someday is going to be one lucky lady! And Brody will help with lots of giggles and snuggles.

We always have a long list of cookies and treats to make in that one short day so I try to get some easier stuff done before we have our actual cookie day (this year it’s this Saturday!) so that I can give cookie decorating my full attention…plus David wasn’t feeling well so he went to bed super early and I can’t lie, I was excited to make these little snowmen…

If you are interested in making any of these creations, check out the links below!

  • Nutter Butter Snowmen (use a full tictac and they look a lot better! …oops!)
  • Oreo Balls (3 ingredients: crushed package of Oreo’s (I saw you could also use the Oreo Thin 100 Calorie Packs but I just used regular Oreos, 8 oz neufchatel cream cheese room temperature -mix and roll balls- coat in almond bark)
  • Rolo Pretzel Bites (3 ingredients: Put a Rolo in a round pretzel on tin foiled cookie sheet, put in oven 350 degrees for 3 minutes, take out and place M&M down on the Rolo…cool completely before trying to remove them from the tin foil.)
  • Cinnamon and Sugar White Chocolate Pretzels

My Christmas List

11 Dec

Happy Tuesday! I started today off with this Blogilates workout…this is the 6th workout I’ve done of Cassey’s now and I’ve been loving it. It’s really nice to mix things up and start incorporating a little strength back in to my life.

I also want to quickly update on my appointment from Friday which I will touch on at a later date but I wanted to let everyone know it went good. I really like my new Dr. He was very knowledgeable, patient, and a great listener! I spent over 45 minutes with him and never once felt rushed out of there. We have a plan set in place and although it’s not what I had hoped things would come to, I am feeling hopeful again.

Side bar: Wouldn’t this be awesome?! It holds a FULL bottle of wine in one glass.

On a lighter note! I’m a few days behind the rest of the blog world but I thought it’d be a fun thing to post today for all of you. I got this survey from Janae’s blog a few days ago. I’d love to know what your answers are as well so feel free to share with me!

1. Favorite Christmas Album/CD/Song?

I have a Lady Antebellum Holiday station on my Pandora that I love. I also have the Glee Holiday CD on Spotify. I attempted to get sucked into Glee on Netflix but it wasn’t happening…but their Christmas CD is pretty amazing! Especially their version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen – so pretty! I also really like the Mercy Me Christmas Sessions CD on Spotify, Joseph’s Lullaby = so good!!

2. Run on Christmas morning or take the day off?

I would like to get a little bit of a workout in on Christmas morning so that I can feel refreshed and energized. I also love that I have more time to enjoy it on my days off!

3. What do you usually eat on Christmas morning?

Well hopefully we can have a breakfast like this one….pancakes sure sound good right now!

4. Favorite holiday or Christmas tradition?

I love going to church with my family Christmas eve and then going to my parents afterwards to open presents. It’s so fun and exciting especially with my nephews now!

I hope that someday when we have children, we will have an Elf on the Shelf because I have well over 365 ideas of what that little elf can do! (Thanks Pinterest!)

5. Real tree, fake tree or no tree?

We have always had a fake one. I don’t mind it one bit! My sister has a real one and I am always jealous of it because I just feel like it’s a prettier green color and the lights glimmer so much brighter! BUT to cut down on the mess and expense, our fake one works perfect!

6. Christmas pajamas… yay or nay?

Only if they are on a few week old newborn…Brody is now 1 year old! Isn’t that crazy? This was last Christmas…

7. Where do you spend the holidays? Your own house, your parents’ house, extended family, in-laws, friends?

On Christmas eve, we spend it with my family going to church and then opening presents later that night. On Christmas Day, we usually do David’s family for lunch and mine for dinner at my parents but this year David’s family is the weekend after so we will just go visit with his family before going to my parents. It’ll be nice this year that they are split like that because I hate leaving places!

8. Food that you always have during the holiday season? Favorite Christmas food/treat?

Grasshoppers! This is mine and David’s favorite to make and share on Christmas. David is the weirdest person ever and really hates mint flavored things including Thin Mints, Andes Mints, and Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream….BUT for some reason, he likes grasshoppers. Must be the alcohol that draws him in even if it is MINT flavored!?

9. Open presents all at once or take turns? Stockings… yes or no?

We take turns. I feel like if we do it all at once, I miss what everyone got and their expression when they open something I gave them. So definitely, one by one, no matter how long it takes! Stockings, we don’t do but we do hang them up.

10. Favorite Christmas(ish) movie?

Elf, hands down!

I just really hope we have some more of this in the next few weeks because once Christmas is over, I don’t like seeing it anymore!
