My Life Soundtrack: October

23 Oct

As I said in the last post, I thought it’d be fun to highlight what’s playing in my world this fall! The music I listen to daily comes from whatever mood I’m in; whatever can put words to my feelings in the best way. Music is what keeps me positive, allows me to let tears fall, and dance circles around the house.

My creativity has been doing some serious overtime in my head. I think it’s a lot about my desire to get my mind off of the things I can’t control and create beauty around me. Just check out my Pinterest Pins – I’m pretty sure one of these days all of the creative inspiration will cause me to literally burst!

I don’t consider myself an artist one bit, but I do enjoy designing for freelance, pushing myself creatively at work, and all things personal expression. Anyways, music is my inspiration…there’s something about sitting down at my computer and listening to new-to-me music while I work. Those are the things that I love, the things that bring me so much happiness and self-worth.

So here it is ladies and gents! 🙂

This list isn’t really a good workout playlist but it is a good relaxation, yoga, or cooking in the kitchen playlist!

Iris is a classic song for me and my current ringtone for my phone…though sometimes it’s just a tad too quiet and I miss calls…

Spotify is pretty awesome! You can listen to an unlimited amount of music, make playlists, listen to radio stations, and see what your friends are listening to. It’s by far the best music listening software out there and completely free (unless you pay to have it on a mobile device).

I’ve been loving this song…(there are hardly any words to this song, but their voices are so good!):

Workout Playlist

6 Dec

I have been loving lots of songs these days and as you may know, my musical taste is all over the place. Depending on what I am doing, I will listen to a certain type of music. If I am feeling creative usually it’s rock, country, or something calm like Jack Johnson or Kate Voegele. If I am working out, it’s more upbeat could be rock or rap. Driving is one that is based completely on the mood I am in in that moment in time.

With the abundance of Christmas music my ears have been exposed to, I thought it’d be a good chance to mix it up and let you in on my Work Out Playlist. This has a good mix of all types of music that I would love to run, walk, or elliptical…and can’t forget, DANCE to!

1. We Run the Night -Havana Brown and Pitbull

2. Tongue Tied – Grouplove

Grouplove-Tongue-Tied-Gigamesh-Remix3. You Make Me Feel – Cobra Starship: this song totally makes me feel like my legs are moving…last summer I’d put this song on repeat for a full 6 miles…I can barely listen to it anymore because it makes me want to fly! Although it also makes me think of 5:30 AMs…best wake up song though!

4. Move Your Body – My Darkest Days: I love these guys!

6. Chillin – Wale and Lady Gaga: Awesome beat…

7. THE (The Hardest Ever) – will.i.am feat Mick Jagger & Jennifer Lopez: I use to blare this in my headphones and actually broke a set of headphones because I blew the speaker out…yes, I like my music LOUD when I run. I pounded a lot of miles out on the treadmill last December/January to this song. It will DEFINITELY keep you moving!

8.  I’m not a huge Linkin Park fan but I do like this song: Bleed It Out

9. Sound of Madness – Shinedown

10. In the Dark – Dev: Another good beat, this was way overplayed on my iPod as well but it still is very motivating for me!

What are some of your favorite songs to workout to?

The One that Got Away

28 Sep

The company I work for also employs Jake Owen’s dad in Florida, so my company sponsored a small concert in town last night for Jake Owen to come and perform. We were all given 2 free tickets to bring a guest. I was lucky my supervisor wasn’t taking anyone with her so my mom and David both got to go!

Not only did they give us tickets but we were in the 3rd row and they had a private reception before the concert for us employees and our guests for food and drinks. I couldn’t believe the food spread that they had: fruit, veggies, prime rib, shrimp, pizza, meatballs, stuffed mushrooms, desserts, and an open bar!

Jake Owen even came out before the concert and talked to all of us and did a little Q&A session.

After filling our tummies with food and adult beverages, we found our seats. They really couldn’t have been any better!

Jake came out and performed his heart out! After making a comment about wishing he had a drink in his hand, the guy behind us handed us a full bear to pass up to him.

Jake then threw his baseball cap out to that guy for him to keep. He also threw out lots of guitar picks, drum sticks, and interacted with the crowd. He was amazing in concert!

I like every type of music from rock to country and everything in between but no matter what kind of music it is, concerts are always so much fun.

We enjoyed ourselves so much and it was nice to get my mind off things and just really have fun and truly smile from ear to ear and sing, dance, and scream.

It was also nice to bond with my coworkers some more and just have a night out together outside of the office.

David had a few too many and is feeling the after effects today but we have a big weekend coming up! The home opener of hockey for our town is tonight and we are excited for another season to start. Tomorrow we are going to an Apple Festival so expect a recap on that on Monday! Hope you all have an amazing weekend and make lots of fun memories.
